About Jiwe na Nyuki

Jiwe na Nyuki means “Stone and Bee” and is pronounced “jee-way nah nyoo-kee” (the ny in “nyoo” sounds like the ny in “canyon”).

Peter began beekeeping in 2020, the same year he met Debra online. When they met in person in July 2021, he brought jars of honey for her family labeled “Jiwe na Nyuki,” a playful mix of their names in Swahili meaning “Stone and Bee.” The name stuck, along with their shared love of creating things that connect people to nature and to each other.

In 2023, they turned that shared spirit into a small business. Jiwe na Nyuki began with local honey from Maryland Heights, Missouri, and has grown to include sewn garments, handmade crafts, and other projects that blend beauty, utility, and care for the environment. While it remains a side venture, they find fulfillment in making things people enjoy, meeting others at fairs, and building community. The most rewarding part is seeing their work spark conversations and meaningful connections.
